Job Overview

Position Summary:

The primary objective of this role is to aid in the strategizing, organizing, and enhancing the operations of the Life Enrichment Department, adhering to current federal, state, and local standards, as well as the established policies and procedures of the facility. The Senior Life Enrichment Coordinator is tasked with delivering a diverse range of quality programs, personalized visits, and sensory/environmental engagement to improve the quality of life for each resident.

All employees are expected to foster and uphold a resident-centered care atmosphere that guarantees the treatment of all residents, family members, visitors, fellow employees, and customers with kindness, respect, and dignity.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Committed to the Vincentian mission of nurturing and sustaining a compassionate care ministry that honors the dignity of individuals within a diverse and evolving society.

2. Upholds and promotes the Vincentian values of spirituality, compassion, quality, dignity, collaboration, advocacy, and stewardship.

3. Supports a resident-centered care environment ensuring respectful treatment of all individuals.

4. Complies with all facility and departmental work rules, policies, and procedures.

5. Assists the Life Enrichment Manager.

6. Plans, schedules, organizes, and implements individual and group activity programs while overseeing the Life Enrichment Aides.

7. Completes the activities section of the resident assessment.

8. Identifies and documents residents' activity interests, needs, and related issues in their care plans.

9. Records all interactions with residents and/or families in the assessment and care plan as mandated by state regulations.

10. Aids the Life Enrichment Manager in gathering data for quality assurance.

11. Transports and assists residents to and from activities as needed.

12. Observes and reports relevant information regarding resident care to the supervisor.

13. Maintains cleanliness in all activity areas, ensuring proper storage and infection control of activity supplies.

14. Documents essential information reflecting the resident's activity care plan and ensures compliance with regulatory standards. Maintains attendance records for all residents participating in Life Enrichment activities.

15. Communicates effectively with residents, family members, volunteers, and other healthcare team members.

16. Attends mandatory departmental meetings, educational programs, and completes all required training.

17. Assists in orienting new personnel and volunteers as assigned.

18. Maintains confidentiality regarding resident medical and social histories.

19. Aids in preparing the activity calendar in collaboration with the Life Enrichment Aide.

20. Distributes activity calendars at the beginning of each month.

21. Plans, organizes, and implements a variety of expressive and creative activities tailored to the needs, interests, preferences, and abilities of residents, including holiday celebrations and special events, with the approval of the Life Enrichment Manager.

22. Assists in implementing programs that promote well-being; provides education and creativity through activity programs that address the physical, cognitive, psychosocial, spiritual, and recreational needs of residents; encourages rehabilitation, independence, self-esteem, and overall quality of life.

23. Recommends supply orders to the Life Enrichment Manager.

24. May provide individualized sensory stimulation, music, and social programs for residents in collaboration with the Music Coordinator.

25. Observes residents' physical and psychological needs, attitudes, and reactions; reports any unusual observations to the supervisor.

26. Anticipates and takes action to maintain a safe environment, incorporating safety and risk management standards into daily practices.

27. Performs all other assigned duties.

Work Environment:

Employees in a long-term care facility operate in a resident care environment that functions 24/7 throughout the year. Employees may encounter unpleasant odors and may interact with residents who exhibit physically or verbally aggressive behavior.

Working conditions typically involve normal indoor temperatures, with occasional outdoor duties depending on the season.

Employees may come into contact with residents who have infectious diseases or bodily fluids. Additionally, there may be exposure to hazardous materials and facility equipment.
