Job Overview

Objective: The Youth Engagement Coordinator plays a vital role in facilitating educational activities and fostering personal development among students. This position requires overseeing participants to ensure their well-being, satisfaction, discipline, and safety while promoting a focus on academic engagement.

Supervision: Reports directly to K-8 Program Managers.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Arrive punctually and ready to conduct daily educational sessions.
  2. Effectively teach and engage students in the academic curriculum and activities.
  3. Assist students with their homework and identify areas where they may need additional support.
  4. Design and prepare lessons and activities tailored to specific groups or grade levels, ensuring all necessary materials are organized.
  5. Communicate proactively with supervisors regarding the procurement of activity materials.
  6. Oversee meal times and designated social interaction periods.
  7. Ensure student safety during off-site activities.
  8. Maintain open communication with Program Managers regarding any concerns about student welfare.
  9. Instruct students in both academic and athletic programs with enthusiasm.
  10. Work collaboratively with all students in grades K-8.
  11. Adhere to all policies and procedures established by the Center of Life.
  12. Serve as a positive role model for students during all program activities.
  13. Exhibit a supportive and encouraging demeanor towards children, parents, and colleagues.
  14. Recognize and accommodate the diverse needs of each child.
  15. Collaborate with colleagues to create an impactful learning environment.
  16. Engage in all enrichment activities and collaborate with community partners to manage student behavior.
  17. Encourage participation in all activities while maintaining a positive attitude.
  18. Build strong, supportive relationships with students to inspire academic success and community involvement.
  19. Contribute to evaluations and communications as requested.
  20. Participate actively in all staff meetings and training sessions.
  21. Assist in maintaining a clean and organized teaching environment.

Qualifications:

  1. Must be at least 18 years of age.
  2. Must obtain necessary clearances for State, Child Abuse, and FBI Fingerprint checks.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively with children aged 4-18 while providing necessary guidance.
  4. Capable of assisting multiple students simultaneously.
  5. Possess the physical stamina required for constant supervision of students.
  6. Knowledgeable in academic subjects, particularly in math and reading.

Job Type: Part-time, Temporary

Compensation: $18.00 per hour

Benefits:

Schedule:

  • 4.5-hour shifts, after school, Monday to Thursday.

Experience:

  • Preferred: 1 year in childcare.

Work Location: One designated location.
