Job Overview:

SUMMARY

The Academic Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing activities related to academic guidance, placement evaluations, and educational support for the designated Program or Department at approved educational institutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Manage the instructional delivery system and maintain documentation for participant attendance and academic performance.
  2. Organize graduation events and assist in planning cultural and educational enrichment activities for participants.
  3. Facilitate various remedial courses in Math, English, Science, and computer technology, along with study skills workshops.
  4. Provide timely and accurate reports to the Director regarding program outcomes.
  5. Offer constructive feedback to staff about participant progress.
  6. Administer educational assessments and coordinate testing services for participants.
  7. Oversee assessment testing, weekly tutoring sessions, maintain regular contact with participants, and monitor academic records.
  8. May supervise part-time Instructional Assistants under the guidance of the Director.
  9. Assist the Director in the recruitment, training, and evaluation of instructional staff.
  10. Support the recruitment and selection process for program participants.
  11. Coordinate the preparation and distribution of progress reports.
  12. Participate in professional development through meetings, workshops, and conferences.
  13. Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Significant related experience may substitute for education). A minimum of three years of demonstrated experience working directly with students from diverse backgrounds.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Proficient in proofreading and editing.
  • Ability to foster teamwork and collaborate effectively.
  • Capable of researching and analyzing issues to develop solutions.
  • Skilled in managing multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and ability to build productive relationships.
  • Ability to respond effectively to requests from various levels within the institution.
  • Familiarity with support concepts for disadvantaged students.
  • Basic project management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Capable of developing and maintaining professional relationships to enhance workflow.
  • Awareness and sensitivity to the needs of a diverse population.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Master's degree in a related field. At least two years of direct experience in a similar program at a higher education institution.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS

The work is performed in a standard office environment, which is adequately lighted and ventilated. The role may involve sitting for extended periods, performing repetitive motions with hands and fingers, and occasional walking or standing for meetings and conferences.
