As a Senior Materials Specialist at MANN+HUMMEL, you will be responsible for establishing and executing technical benchmarks for a variety of raw materials, facilitating internal knowledge sharing, driving innovation initiatives, and ensuring that material performance meets our rigorous standards and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and execute technical benchmarks for designated raw material categories, ensuring compatibility with new applications, designs, and testing methodologies.
  • Represent MANN+HUMMEL's expertise in raw materials at both external and internal functions, including trade shows and exhibitions.
  • Authorize materials and hold a decisive role in material technical approvals.
  • Lead and implement patent strategies, assess invention disclosures, and keep abreast of patent developments within the organization and among competitors.
  • Oversee internal knowledge management and transfer related to materials, including the collaborative updating of the engineering handbook with design and engineering professionals.
  • Guarantee global accessibility to technical documentation for team members.
  • Build and sustain relationships with academic institutions and research organizations.
  • Develop and uphold technical protocols and guidelines.
  • Assist manufacturing facilities, quality assurance teams, and procurement in material-related inquiries.
  • Engage in discussions regarding product specifications and aid in presenting developed products to clients and suppliers.
  • Create standard and customized presentations for stakeholders.
  • Participate in technical project evaluations and extract lessons learned for the engineering handbook.
  • Contribute technical insights for product development in collaboration with Product Management and Advanced Development teams.
  • Facilitate the development and execution of innovation projects.
Your Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • Degree in chemistry, materials science, materials engineering, or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in raw material and component manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with performance and durability standards of materials.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering and office IT applications.
