POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a dependable and skilled Dispatcher to assist in formulating trucking routes that optimize costs while fulfilling customer scheduling requirements. The Dispatcher will utilize advanced routing software to design daily trucking paths that adhere to the necessary stops specified in client agreements. The ideal candidate must be adaptable to last-minute modifications and collaborate with drivers to arrange urgent pick-ups or deliveries for both new and existing clients as needed.


Key Responsibilities:
To excel in this role, the individual must effectively carry out each essential duty. Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Establish delivery routes and maintain ongoing communication with drivers throughout the day.
  • Work closely with management to adjust daily routes in response to customer needs.
  • Track driver activities using Fleetlocate / Spireon systems to keep clients informed about the status of container movements, deliveries, and in-gate processes.
  • Foster strong relationships with drivers and clients to alleviate the pressures associated with last-minute schedule changes.
  • Address any unexpected route alterations or road construction challenges, collaborating with drivers to devise new routes for timely deliveries.
  • Update and enter data into Trinium (TMS) concerning accessorials (Terminal WT, Split terminations, Stop offs, etc.).
  • Resolve issues at terminals and liaise with customers to ensure prompt extraction of units.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with drivers to enhance driver retention.
  • Identify and manage hazardous loads, ensuring all necessary documentation for the move is completed.
  • Oversee and track multiple customers and their containers.
  • Provide daily status updates to clients.
  • Coordinate and communicate pick-ups and deliveries with dispatchers, external vendors, terminals, Warehouse Operations, and customers.
  • Ensure accurate timekeeping and dispatching of drivers to meet terminal schedules.
  • Perform data entry for LCL and TL work orders / Delivery Orders accurately.
  • Check availability of loose freight.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to appointments, pier passes, and refusals of empties.
  • Carry out other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Strong familiarity with local roadways.
  • Capability to function effectively in a team-oriented environment under pressure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Knowledge of the Trinium system is preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience in the logistics industry.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in port dispatching.
  • 2-3 years of experience in LTL operations.
