Education: Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related field.

Qualifications: Must possess or be eligible for a teaching license in Speech Pathology in North Dakota. Supervision for Clinical Fellowship Year is available.

Job Objective: To prevent, evaluate, and provide assistance within the educational environment for students experiencing language, communication, and speech sound challenges, while also acting as a resource for colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver speech and language interventions to students identified as having or at risk for speech and language delays.
  • Develop individualized education plans tailored to address various speech and language disorders.
  • Administer speech, language, and hearing screenings.
  • Perform diagnostic assessments to determine eligibility for speech and language services.
  • Complete necessary Medicaid billing documentation.
  • Collaborate with educators, parents, and external service providers.
  • Maintain comprehensive progress records for students receiving services.
  • Create a supportive learning atmosphere that caters to the unique needs of each student.
  • Foster and sustain positive relationships with students, parents, and fellow professionals.
Additional Qualifications:
  • In-depth knowledge of the causes and evidence-based practices for a range of speech and language disorders.
  • Understanding of alternative and augmentative communication methods.
  • Exhibit compassion and patience when working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities.
  • Familiarity with special education compliance standards.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and a commitment to collaborative work with other educational professionals.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements: The role requires frequent sitting, occasional walking, and standing. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential. The ability to maintain audio/visual discrimination and perception is necessary for successful job performance. Physical demands may include lifting up to fifty (50) pounds and engaging in various movements such as reaching, bending, and sitting within the classroom setting.

Employees may encounter challenging situations with students that require appropriate de-escalation techniques. The typical noise level in the work environment is moderate, and there may be a heightened risk of exposure to infections. Employees may be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of students.

Employment Terms: 188-day contract.

Evaluation Process: Performance will be assessed by the Principal at least twice during the initial three years of service and annually thereafter.
