Licensed Speech Pathologist

Qualifications: Must possess or be eligible for a teaching license in Speech Pathology in North Dakota. Supervision for Clinical Fellowship Year is available.
Job Objective: To prevent, evaluate, and provide assistance within the educational environment for students experiencing language, communication, and speech sound challenges, while also acting as a resource for colleagues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver speech and language interventions to students identified as having or at risk for speech and language delays.
- Develop individualized education plans tailored to address various speech and language disorders.
- Administer speech, language, and hearing screenings.
- Perform diagnostic assessments to determine eligibility for speech and language services.
- Complete necessary Medicaid billing documentation.
- Collaborate with educators, parents, and external service providers.
- Maintain comprehensive progress records for students receiving services.
- Create a supportive learning atmosphere that caters to the unique needs of each student.
- Foster and sustain positive relationships with students, parents, and fellow professionals.
- In-depth knowledge of the causes and evidence-based practices for a range of speech and language disorders.
- Understanding of alternative and augmentative communication methods.
- Exhibit compassion and patience when working with individuals with disabilities.
- Strong oral and written communication abilities.
- Familiarity with special education compliance standards.
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and a commitment to collaborative work with other educational professionals.
Employees may encounter challenging situations with students that require appropriate de-escalation techniques. The typical noise level in the work environment is moderate, and there may be a heightened risk of exposure to infections. Employees may be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of students.
Employment Terms: 188-day contract.
Evaluation Process: Performance will be assessed by the Principal at least twice during the initial three years of service and annually thereafter.
