Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our team at Altru Health. As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will be responsible for evaluating and treating outpatients in compliance with licensure standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and treat patients with speech and language disorders, including those with neurological, developmental, and acquired conditions.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to meet the unique needs of each patient.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to identify patient goals, barriers to discharge, and ongoing speech language services.
  • Provide patient-centered care and exercise independent judgment in planning, organizing, and prioritizing workload.
  • Document patient information, including precautions, orders, and initial plan of care.
  • Orient patients, family, and other appropriate parties to the purpose and procedures of the therapy evaluation and treatment.
  • Provide patient education, family teaching, and support related to the needs of the patient and family.
  • Select and perform evaluation and treatment methods that correlate to the age of the patient, diagnosis, symptoms, and physician orders.
  • Coordinate treatment schedules with disciplines using appropriate scheduling procedures.
  • Participate with inter-disciplinary teams in the development and accurate documentation of a discharge plan in inpatient settings.
  • Complete patient charges according to treatment provided within required timelines.
  • Identify significant changes in patient condition and take appropriate actions, as evidenced in reporting, staffing consultations, and documentation.
  • Monitor program effectiveness and outcomes, initiating programs and development of new programs.
  • Utilize a team approach in the delivery and management of services and patient care.
  • Perform pain assessment and take appropriate action according to standard operating procedure.
Requirements
  • Speech, Language, Pathologist (SLP) certification from the North Dakota State Board of Examiners on Audiology & Speech Language Pathology.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathologist (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech Language Associate (ASHA).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • A minimum of 1 year of related experience.
Working Conditions

This position requires frequent sitting, walking, and standing. The ability to lift, carry, push, and pull medium-weight objects is also required. The work environment is primarily indoor, with occasional outdoor activities.
