ROLE OVERVIEW:

The Product Development Manager plays a pivotal role in spearheading the creation of innovative products by orchestrating the efforts of product development, supply chain, quality assurance, and operational teams. This position demands a blend of strategic insight, project management acumen, and technical proficiency to guarantee that products fulfill customer expectations, align with the company's strategic objectives, and are delivered punctually and within financial constraints.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide the Sales Manager with insights regarding process and supply chain capabilities, as well as potential capital requirements based on customer inquiries.
  • Collaborate with the Sales Manager and clients to formulate product briefs that will direct the development of new offerings, encompassing all customer and internal specifications.
  • Engage with the Sales Manager and clients to adjust briefs as necessary throughout the development cycle.
  • Oversee the product development lifecycle from initial customer inquiry to market launch, ensuring that all milestones are achieved on schedule and within budget.
  • Coordinate efforts among product development, supply chain, quality assurance, operations, and sales teams to meet brief specifications and ensure manufacturability.
  • Identify project risks and devise mitigation strategies to tackle potential challenges.
  • Lead the product development team, promoting a collaborative and innovative workplace culture.
  • Facilitate regular team meetings to monitor progress, resolve issues, and recognize achievements.
  • Ensure that all product aspects comply with customer and internal standards for functionality, flavor, quality, regulatory compliance, supply chain, and manufacturing.
  • Provide cost analysis throughout the development process to ensure that products meet profitability targets.
  • Act as the primary contact for inquiries and updates related to product development.
  • Present updates on product development progress and strategies to senior management and relevant stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in food science, chemistry, or a related field; a Master's degree is advantageous.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in product development, including at least 2 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Demonstrated success in bringing products to market.
  • Strong project management capabilities, with proficiency in tools such as JIRA, Trello, or Asana.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with product design and development methodologies.
