ROLE OVERVIEW:

The Product Development Manager plays a pivotal role in spearheading the creation of innovative products by orchestrating the efforts of product development, supply chain management, quality assurance, and operational teams. This position demands a blend of strategic insight, project oversight, and technical know-how to guarantee that products fulfill customer expectations, align with corporate objectives, and are delivered punctually and within financial constraints.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide insights to the Sales Manager regarding process and supply chain capabilities along with potential capital requirements based on customer inquiries.
  • Collaborate with the Sales Manager and clients to formulate product briefs that guide the new product development process, encompassing all customer and internal specifications.
  • Adjust product briefs in conjunction with the Sales Manager and clients as necessary throughout the development cycle.
  • Oversee the entire product development lifecycle from initial customer inquiry to final launch, ensuring that all milestones are achieved on schedule and within budget.
  • Coordinate efforts among product development, supply chain, quality assurance, operations, and sales teams to ensure compliance with brief requirements and manufacturability.
  • Identify project risks and devise mitigation strategies to address potential challenges.
  • Lead the product development team, promoting a collaborative and innovative workplace culture.
  • Facilitate regular team meetings to monitor progress, resolve issues, and acknowledge achievements.
  • Ensure that all product aspects meet customer and internal standards for functionality, flavor, quality, regulatory compliance, supply chain, and manufacturing.
  • Provide cost analysis throughout the development process to ensure products meet profitability targets.
  • Act as the primary liaison for all product development-related inquiries and updates.
  • Present product development progress and strategies to senior management and relevant stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in food science, chemistry, or a related field; a Master's degree is advantageous.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in product development, including at least 2 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Demonstrated success in bringing products to market.
  • Strong project management capabilities, with familiarity in tools such as JIRA, Trello, or Asana.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of product design and development methodologies.
