Gastroenterology Patient Care Coordinator

Position Overview: The Gastroenterology Patient Care Coordinator serves as the primary liaison between patients and healthcare providers within our organization. This role adheres to the operational standards and protocols of Madison Medical Affiliates, ensuring a seamless experience for patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Exhibits professionalism and exceptional customer service, facilitating communication and assistance for patients both in-person and via telephone.
  • Efficiently schedules patient appointments while managing the physician's calendar according to their preferences, including making reminder calls.
  • Handles incoming calls, screens inquiries, and takes messages from patients, processing them as directed by the medical team.
  • Accurately documents patient information in their records and collaborates with the care team to gather any additional necessary documentation.
  • Confirms insurance details and ensures that registration and payer information is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Identifies and rectifies registration discrepancies, utilizing insurance platforms to verify patient eligibility when required.
  • Secures prior authorizations for radiology and medication through online systems or phone communication.
  • Assists patients in coordinating follow-up testing, including radiology, laboratory work, or specialist referrals.
  • Prepares correspondence for physicians and patients as needed.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned to support clinic operations.
Essential Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient data entry skills and familiarity with computer applications.
  • Highly organized with a keen attention to detail in a dynamic work environment.
  • Strong communication skills, comfortable interacting with patients, colleagues, and physicians.
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Experience handling confidential information with discretion.
