Position Overview

Role: Specialized Support Aide

Reporting To: Special Education Coordinator

About the Role: Global Citizens Public Charter School is on the lookout for a Specialized Support Aide to assist students with unique learning needs within inclusive classrooms. This role involves providing tailored instructional support for students facing challenges such as autism, developmental delays, and behavioral issues. As the first dual language immersion institution in Washington, DC, offering pathways in Mandarin Chinese and Spanish, our Aides will thrive in a collaborative setting aimed at enhancing educational experiences for every student.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Supporting Students with Unique Needs

  • Assist students during lessons and daily activities.
  • Deliver instructional content under the guidance of the lead educator.
  • Implement behavioral strategies and support students during related service sessions.

Collaboration with Educational Team

  • Partner with the lead educator and special education team for lesson planning.
  • Maintain regular communication regarding students' progress.
  • Assist in data collection and documentation.

Qualifications for Specialized Support Aide:

  • High School Diploma is required; prior teaching experience is preferred.
  • Willingness to undergo Behavior Technician and CPI training.
  • Familiarity with learning standards and student-centered educational practices.
  • Ability to thrive in a multicultural setting.

Compensation Package

Salary ranges from $28,000 to $38,000, commensurate with experience. A comprehensive benefits package is available.
