Patient Care Assistant

Job Summary
The Patient Care Assistant is a vital member of our healthcare team, providing exceptional care and support to patients in the Adult General Med/Diabetes Unit at MemorialCare Long Beach Medical Center.
Key Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of licensed personnel, perform patient care activities as identified on the Patient Care Assistant competency checklist.
- Recognize and report changing patient care needs to the registered nurse.
- Document findings and maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with unit-specific standards and systems.
- Provide emotional and physical comfort to patients, ensuring a safe and clean environment.
- Maintain department equipment, reporting and following up on equipment in need of repairs.
Requirements
- Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Certified Nursing Assistants with 3 years of experience in an acute care facility or 5 years of experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility or sub-acute setting, or nursing students actively enrolled in a nursing program who have completed the first semester.
- A current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) certification is required.
- High school diploma or equivalency.
- Basic computer knowledge preferred.
