About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Patient Care Assistant to join our team at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center. As a Patient Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support in our Step Down Unit.
Key Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of licensed personnel, perform patient care activities as identified on the Patient Care Assistant competency checklist.
- Recognize and report changing patient care needs to the registered nurse.
- Document findings and maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with unit-specific standards and systems.
- Provide emotional and physical comfort to patients and maintain a safe environment.
- Responsible for maintenance of department equipment and reporting equipment in need of repairs.
Requirements
- Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Certified Nursing Assistants with 3 years of experience in an acute care facility or 5 years of experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility or sub-acute setting or Nursing students actively enrolled in a nursing program who have completed the first semester of the nursing program.
- A current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) certification is required.
- High school diploma or equivalency.
- Basic computer knowledge preferred.
