Job Overview / Key Responsibilities:
The responsibilities outlined in this section represent typical duties assigned to this role; this list is not exhaustive and may vary. Key responsibilities include:
  • Patrolling school facilities, outdoor areas, and parking lots to ensure safety and security.
  • Monitoring student behavior during transitions, breaks, and before and after school.
  • Identifying and addressing loitering students and visitors, providing guidance on school policies.
  • Observing and reporting any unauthorized individuals, vandalism, fire hazards, or other risks that could endanger property or individuals.
  • Assisting in the supervision of students during school bus loading and unloading, athletic events, and off-campus activities.
  • Managing crowd control during athletic and special events to ensure the safety of attendees and prevent misconduct.
  • Enforcing school regulations regarding attendance, substance use, theft, truancy, and other behavioral issues.
  • Maintaining records of student referrals, incidents, and any relevant occurrences.
  • Providing assistance to students in distress by escorting them to the appropriate administrative office.
  • Utilizing communication devices to coordinate with school administration and law enforcement when necessary.

Knowledge and Skills Required:
Knowledge of effective campus supervision methods and procedures, basic patrolling techniques, and laws related to citizen arrests. Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and courtesy are essential.

Qualifications:
The Baldwin Park Unified School District is seeking a dedicated individual for the role of School Safety Monitor. Under the guidance of the site administrator, the monitor will foster positive student behavior and ensure compliance with school regulations to maintain a secure environment for students and staff.

Education and Experience:
Graduation from high school or equivalent is required. Training in crowd management or behavior modification is preferred. Experience working with students in a supervisory capacity is desirable.

Licenses and Certifications:
Possession of a valid California Driver's License is required. Candidates must obtain and maintain certifications in First Aid, CPR, and Campus Security Aide training as mandated by educational regulations.
