Job Responsibilities:

Oversee students during breakfast, nutrition, and lunch periods in designated areas served by nutrition services and other assigned student zones; report unusual student behavior; promote and remind students of acceptable conduct; ensure students remain in assigned eating locations; maintain cleanliness and organization of eating areas; assist in food preparation and other related duties within the cafeteria; uphold order and encourage safe and sanitary practices in eating environments; assist with student serving lines; report any unsafe conditions or equipment in the nutrition services area as necessary; notify appropriate authorities of accidents or injuries; obtain emergency assistance for incidents, if required; instruct and supervise students in appropriate behavior within nutrition service areas.

Qualifications:

The Baldwin Park Unified School District is seeking candidates for the role of Substitute Nutrition Services Aide. These positions will be available at various school sites on an as-needed basis.

The selection process will tentatively include a review of applications and interviews. The Human Resources Department will reach out to all applicants once the selection process is complete.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge and Skills:

• Basic understanding of school safety protocols.
• Familiarity with child development and behavior.
• Knowledge of first aid principles.
• Safe and sanitary practices related to nutrition services.
• Ability to supervise children and maintain order.
• Capability to uphold acceptable standards of student behavior.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues and others encountered during work.
• Comprehend and execute oral and written instructions.
• Adapt to changing work patterns and schedules.
• Administer first aid when necessary.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Individuals meeting the knowledge and skills outlined above are considered eligible based on their experience and education. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

REQUIRED LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATES
Candidates must possess and maintain current first aid and CPR certification.

  • Proof of High School Graduation (High School Diploma, Transcripts, or GED)
