Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled DFx Engineer to join our team at Tesla. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will be responsible for ensuring the manufacturability and quality of our electronics product portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deploy and maintain Design for Manufacturing (DFM) systems, including design rules for all Tesla products.
  • Provide expert feedback and mentorship to Design Engineers on production processes, printed circuit board technologies, and design rules and process requirements.
  • Collaborate with PCB layout designers and EE Design Engineers to create design rules and provide dynamic feedback.
  • Assess and manage PCB Suppliers and PCBA Contract Manufacturers on production process efficiency and quality.
  • Participate in cost reduction initiatives by exploring and suggesting process, material, design, and new technologies.
  • Own RFQs and contract management, ensuring Non-Disclosure Agreements, General Terms & Conditions, Piece Price Agreements, and other related contracts are negotiated and documented.
  • Drive negotiation for piece price and product development to ensure Tesla's pricing meets best-landed-cost expectations and Supplier Industrialization standards.
Requirements
  • Degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience performing DFM/DFA/DFT for PCB and PCBA.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of industry specifications and standards, especially IPC and JEDEC.
  • Experience in deployment and maintenance of DFM Software Applications like Valor, Vayo, or similar.
  • Experience with CAD Librarian activities, such as part generation from drawings and footprint and pad optimizations.
  • Subject Matter Expert on solder paste, stencil design, and stencil apertures.

Expected Compensation: $80,000 - $204,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits.
