Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Industrialization Engineer to join our High Voltage Electronics Top Level Assembly Supplier Industrialization Engineering team at Tesla. As a crucial member of the team, you will be responsible for building a state-of-the-art supply chain with Tesla, involving the entire product life cycle of several vehicle and energy products development with a focus on High Voltage Electronics TLA Modules.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct and implement Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) analysis and drive design solutions during early design phase with Design Engineering team.
  • Perform Tolerance Stack Up and Monte Carlo Simulations to identify design risk and predict potential PPMs in production and feedback to Design.
  • Lead Supplier industrialization and TLA manufacturing process development during the Request for Quote (RFQ) phase to ensure Capacity, Quality, Capex, headcount, Location, and space meet Tesla requirements.
  • Identify Critical to Quality (CTQ) and New Unique Difficult (NUD) and drive supplier for robust process design.
  • Act as program manager, coaching and guiding supplier to meet their committed industrialization schedule, also feedback the supplier industrialization status to various internal PM team.
  • Drive supplier to meet the production ramp up schedule during early Start of Production (SOP), also manage supplier resources to ensure Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) meeting Tesla Target.
  • Manage supplier yield performance and work with internal test, ME, EE, and Rel team (internal or external) to drive for corrective actions and yield improvement.
  • Manage supplier quality performance, and work closely with Tesla Field Quality and Factory Quality team to address Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs).
  • Facilitate communication and clarification of technical requirements between Suppliers and Tesla Purchasing, Quality, and Design teams.
  • Owner of RFQ's and contract management - ensure Non-Disclosure Agreements, General Terms & Conditions, Piece Price Agreements, and other related contracts are negotiated, agreed and appropriately documented before business is initiated.
  • Drive negotiation for piece price and product development to ensure that Tesla's pricing meets best-landed-cost expectations as well as Supplier Industrialization standards of Best-In-Class quality.
Requirements
  • 5 years of experience in supply chain managing Electronics TLA preferred.
  • Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), Tolerance stacks up analysis, and Monte Carlo simulation and other Quality tools.
  • Solid knowledge of statistical analysis tools and applications (JMP/Minitab).
  • Proficient in GD&T, 3D CAD software, CATIA preferred.
  • Previous experience in Advanced product quality planning (APQP) needed.
  • Supplier development and management experience.
  • Self-motivated and the ability to work independently, hands on and ready to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Domestic and International travel (expected 50% of the time) is required to engage with CMs, sometimes on short notice.
