Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Process Engineer to join our team at Federal Signal Corporation. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will be responsible for determining and specifying all production equipment, tooling fixtures, and processes necessary to investigate, monitor, and rectify any manufacturing deficiencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Design Engineering, Production Supervisor, and Group leaders for manufacturability of new products and participate in Design Reviews.
  • Determine, specify, and implement the necessary tooling, facilities, fixturing processes, and production equipment required, including vendor selection, for manufacturing.
  • Conduct Value Analysis on existing products.
  • Develop, justify, and implement process and assembly improvements for existing products in tools, fixtures, and production equipment.
  • Propose and implement approaches to the design and development of new manufacturing processes, equipment, and Plant/Work Center layout.
  • Balance line production based on sales/marketing requirements.
  • Prepare various reports such as cash flow, make vs. buy analysis, etc., and analyze related expenses for recommendations to production.
  • Evaluate, monitor, and analyze direct and indirect labor performance to standards.
  • Assist Design and Test Engineering and specify the necessary equipment for testing.
  • Instruct and train supervisors and group leaders on proper operation of production machinery and equipment.
  • Develop teams to investigate and resolve routine production problems.
  • Visit suppliers to qualify them and resolve problems that may have arisen.
  • Conduct Cost/Router/Material Usage Audits as required by Cost Accounting/Marketing.
Requirements
  • Bachelor Degree in Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering.
  • CAD/CAM experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A minimum of three to five years experience in a manufacturing work environment.

  • Ability to work well with people.
