Position Summary

The Logistics Specialist will be responsible for facilitating our Supply Chain operations, ensuring efficient processes and effective communication within the team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage purchasing orders, ensuring accuracy and timely tracking of orders while addressing any issues or discrepancies.
  • Develop, maintain, and reconcile reports related to discrepancies, receiving, shipping, and other logistics activities.
  • Ensure precise and prompt processing of customer orders within the program.
  • Verify that received items correspond accurately with the respective purchase order lines.
  • Collaborate with Buyers to resolve any discrepancies effectively.
  • Document the receipt of purchases in the inventory management system, utilizing data and delivery notes.
  • Supervise and/or execute the receipt, inspection, unpacking, and delivery of goods, determining the most efficient shipping methods based on urgency and requirements.
  • Handle invoice processing for received goods.
  • Manage and document returns in accordance with established protocols.
  • Deliver components to designated locations as required.
  • Perform routine administrative tasks, including data entry and customer assistance.
  • Provide guidance and training to team members as necessary.
  • Maintain effective communication with the receiving team through verbal and written reports.
  • Execute additional duties as assigned by the Logistics Supervisor.
  • Coordinate and approve vendor delivery schedules, including pickups.
  • Assist in the upkeep of logistics policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and evaluate subcontractor performance, scheduling, and planning.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; one year of relevant experience may substitute for one year of education.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Not applicable.

Experience:

  • At least 3 years of direct experience in both Government and commercial defense sectors.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance within one year if necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with DoD Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
  • Experience in Supply Chain processes and related systems.
  • Experience in managing materials within programs or functions.
  • Knowledge of ITAR licenses, INCOTERMS, freight forwarding, and courier services.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong skills in briefing, project management, organization, and communication.
  • Familiarity with Maximo and IFS systems.

Skills and Technologies

  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and interpersonal abilities with effective problem-solving techniques.
  • Communication: Proficient in English for vendor communication and negotiation; capable of clear written and verbal communication.
  • Technical Proficiency: Competent in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Outlook, as well as general office equipment.
