Job Overview

Position: Certified Nursing Assistant

Location: Stony Brook, NY

Contract Duration: 3 months (possibility for extension or permanent placement based on attendance, performance, and client requirements)

Compensation: $28 per hour

Work Hours: 3 PM - 11 PM

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering exceptional care to patients.
  • Responding to patient inquiries and assessing their needs effectively.
  • Assisting patients or residents with daily living activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, mobility, and exercise.
  • Repositioning patients who are confined to bed.
  • Ensuring dietary needs are met by understanding patients' dietary restrictions and preferences.
  • Gathering comprehensive information from healthcare professionals regarding patient conditions and care plans.
  • Monitoring and documenting food and fluid intake as well as output, and reporting any changes to the medical team.
  • Taking and recording vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiratory rate as needed.
  • Assessing patients for any medical issues that may require attention.
  • Reminding patients about their medication and nutritional supplement schedules.
  • Documenting observations related to patient behavior and physical symptoms for nursing staff.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of CNA training and facility policies.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA is required.
  • Active CNA license in New York State is necessary.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience as a CNA is preferred.
