Job Summary

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nursing Assistants have frequent face-to-face communication with patients and their visitors to convey information on treatment procedures and visitor hours.

They also encourage and support those who may be despondent or apprehensive, demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with patient care activities, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families.
  • Conduct vital sign measurements, such as temperature, pulse, and blood pressure.
  • Assist with daily living activities, such as feeding and toileting.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and dignity.
  • Perform housekeeping and cleaning duties related to direct care.
Qualifications
  • Nursing Assistant 1: Possession of or ability to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities during the probationary period.
  • Nursing Assistant 2: One year of satisfactory full-time experience in the provision of simple treatment and other patient care services under professional supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
  • NYS Certified Nursing Assistant license or certification from an approved certified nursing aide training program.
  • One year of patient care experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
