Position Overview

As an integral part of the anesthesia team, the Anesthesia Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the seamless operation of anesthesia services through effective equipment management and supply oversight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain, repair, and set up all anesthesia apparatus, ensuring cleanliness of smaller instruments such as laryngoscopes.
  • Procure necessary supplies, including noncontrolled medications, and manage inventory levels for the department efficiently.
  • Conduct minor repairs and maintenance on anesthesia equipment.
  • Facilitate the transportation of departmental correspondence as required.
  • Assist anesthesia staff in the movement of equipment and patients.
  • Prepare documentation for scheduled surgical procedures.
  • Manage add-on schedules and any modifications to existing schedules.
  • Perform routine cleaning of assigned anesthesia machines, including bi-monthly deep cleans.
  • Defrost and maintain the drug refrigerator.
  • Ensure the proper handling of blood products for surgical operations as mandated.
  • Participate in the call list as part of the area's emergency response plan.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

The individual must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care as defined by the department's patient demographics. Specifically, the employee should demonstrate proficiency in: 1) gathering and interpreting information based on patient needs; 2) understanding developmental stages; and 3) recognizing the treatment spectrum required by patients.
