Position Overview

As an integral part of the anesthesia team, you will provide essential support to the Anesthesiologist/Anesthetist by ensuring the optimal functioning of equipment and the availability of necessary materials and anesthetics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain, repair, and set up all anesthesia apparatus, ensuring cleanliness of smaller instruments such as laryngoscopes.
  • Procure supplies, noncontrolled medications, and materials for the department promptly, while managing drug inventory levels and stocking anesthesia carts.
  • Conduct minor repairs and maintenance on equipment as required.
  • Facilitate the collection and delivery of departmental correspondence as necessary.
  • Assist anesthesia staff in the transportation of equipment and patients.
  • Prepare documentation for scheduled surgical procedures.
  • Manage add-on schedules and any changes to existing schedules.
  • Perform routine cleaning of assigned anesthesia machines, including comprehensive cleaning every two months.
  • Defrost and maintain the drug refrigerator.
  • Ensure proper handling of blood products for all surgical operations as needed.
  • Participate in the call list as part of the area's Disaster Plan.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

The candidate must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate assessment, treatment, or care as defined by the department's patient demographics. This includes:

  1. Ability to gather and interpret information relevant to patient needs.
  2. Understanding of growth and development principles.
  3. Awareness of the treatment spectrum required for patients.

Competency Requirements

Must exhibit competency through initial orientation and ongoing validation to independently execute tasks and additional responsibilities as outlined in the job description and departmental competency checklist.
