Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Focus on reporting for Cedar Rapids, a vibrant city with a population of approximately 140,000, and the family-oriented city of Marion, which has around 42,000 residents.
  • Engage with the Linn County government, including the three-member Board of Supervisors and various elected offices.
  • Utilize public records and data-driven reporting to uncover impactful stories that resonate with residents.
  • Analyze policy discussions and community meetings to provide context and clarity to local issues.
  • Explore the effects of recent climate challenges on community development and services.
Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A strong background in digital journalism, with a keen interest in analytics to enhance story reach.
  • Experience in alternative storytelling methods and a passion for explanatory journalism.
