Job Title: Director of Development USF

InsideHigherEd is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Development to lead our fundraising efforts and drive the growth of our mission and operations.

About the Role:

The Director of Development will be responsible for creating and executing a comprehensive development plan to support the growth of our mission and operations. This includes leading the development department, collaborating with senior leadership, and creating effective and targeted development strategies to meet departmental objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement the Festival's annual fund, giving, and lead cultivation initiatives, including individual giving, foundation giving, corporate giving, government funding, season and production sponsorships, and tracking and analysis of each of these areas.
  • Manage and oversee the formation and maintenance of development reports and records, help prepare and manage the department's forecasts, financial reports, and budgets, and monitor budget and control expenditures.
  • Supervise and manage the research and preparation of all foundation, corporate, and government grant proposals and oversee grant administration and reporting in collaboration with the SUU Advancement and Grants offices.
  • Work closely with staff, board members, and other volunteers to effectively manage galas and maximize the effectiveness of the Festival's other cultivation events in order to help develop, attract, and retain donors.
  • Work with the Festival's leadership to motivate and strengthen the Board in its role in development, and take an active role in serving and supporting the Executive Managing Director, Artistic Director, and Board in their fundraising efforts.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and experience in the cultivation and solicitation of individual, corporate, foundation, or government donors and a proven track record in the management of successful fundraising programs.
  • Leadership and administrative abilities, with experience in managing and motivating staff and the ability to inspire those working with them toward accomplishing common objectives.
  • Ability to plan and manage strategically, set priorities, and focus on details while not losing sight of the big picture.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills, good business sense, and computer literacy.
  • Strong work ethic, highest levels of integrity, and passion for theatre and the arts.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with planned giving.
  • Five years of fundraising experience, ideally in the arts.
  • Project management certification.
  • Flexibility to welcome and embrace change and the ability to balance the many challenges inherent in a dynamic theatre environment.
