Position Overview:

The Field Superintendent is responsible for steering projects from initiation to completion in a visibly safe and orderly manner. This role involves coordinating and supervising daily on-site activities to ensure the successful delivery of the final product within the established timeline and budget, adhering to the standards outlined in the contract documents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to complete the Project Checklist Folder and the on-site Safety Binder tailored to the specific job.
  • Thoroughly review project drawings and Purchase Orders, identifying gaps and issuing Requests for Information (RFIs) to the Project Manager as needed.
  • Work alongside the Project Manager to finalize and manage the project schedule, providing weekly updates and communicating with the project team.
  • Establish a budget for General Conditions in conjunction with the Project Manager and Accounting, monitoring progress to remain within budgetary constraints.
  • Coordinate the scheduling of tools, equipment, supplies, and materials, ensuring all deliveries are inspected and documented.
  • Address inquiries from subcontractors and escalate unresolved issues to the Project Manager through formal RFIs.
  • Organize the field office, ensuring all necessary documentation is accessible, including submittals, safety materials, and project specifications.
  • Lead weekly job meetings with subcontractors, maintaining a leadership role in all trade interactions.
  • Ensure compliance with project documentation, including daily reports, manpower counts, and incident reports.
  • Maintain high standards of quality control for all submittals and ensure adherence to trade requirements.
  • Proactively manage project schedules and maintain a clean and organized job site.
  • Conduct weekly toolbox talks and ensure all safety protocols are followed.
  • Oversee inspections and manage the close-out process for all project-related activities.

Performance Metrics:

  • Portfolio Results: Number of completed jobs, total billable revenue, and adherence to General Conditions budget.
  • Client Satisfaction Ratings.
  • Compliance with all job site processes and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong relationship-building abilities with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Outstanding organizational skills with a proven ability to execute tasks effectively.
  • Capability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and strong analytical thinking skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of project drawings and specifications.
  • Current OSHA certifications and progress towards obtaining the NYC DOB Superintendent License.
