Position Overview

The Department of Parks & Recreation is seeking a dedicated Associate State Archaeologist to join our Facilities and Development team at the Northern Service Center. This role is pivotal in overseeing archaeological investigations and managing cultural resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough archaeological assessments and manage cultural resource projects.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure comprehensive project execution.
  • Plan and implement departmental initiatives focused on the identification and preservation of archaeological sites and cultural artifacts.
  • Prepare detailed budgets, technical reports, and management recommendations based on research findings.
  • Respond to inquiries from district staff regarding cultural resource management and Native American consultations.

Work Environment

This position involves both office and fieldwork, including potential overnight travel for extended periods. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to shifting priorities while working independently and collaboratively.

Qualifications

A valid California Class C Driver's license is required for this position. The role is designated as telework eligible, centered around remote work capabilities.
