Job Responsibilities

This position plays a crucial role in supporting the mission, goals, and objectives of the Department of Corrections through the installation, repair, and upkeep of electronic systems and equipment within a correctional facility. The role involves conducting testing, preventive maintenance, and corrective actions to ensure the integrity of existing structures and furnishings, adhering to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

Key Duties Include:

  • Managing inventory through effective planning and procurement.
  • Responding promptly to maintenance requests via a Total Maintenance System (TMS).
  • Supervising inmate workers during the installation, maintenance, and repair processes.
  • Being available for emergency callbacks for service on a rotating schedule.
  • Assisting in various tasks within the Building and Grounds department, which may encompass preventive maintenance, construction projects, equipment repairs, electrical work, welding, carpentry, plumbing, and outdoor maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent, along with substantial experience in electronics and CCTV troubleshooting. A solid understanding of telecommunication equipment and its functionalities is essential.

Additional Considerations

Experience in correctional settings is preferred. Knowledge of perimeter security systems and public address systems is advantageous. Candidates should have a working knowledge of electronics theory, including troubleshooting, calibration, testing procedures, and circuit analysis. Familiarity with computers and peripheral devices is required, along with the ability to fabricate, modify, and perform component-level repairs on various electronic instruments. Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics, block diagrams, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, flow charts, truth tables, and service manuals is necessary. Knowledge of two-way radio systems is also beneficial.
