Job Responsibilities

This position plays a vital role in supporting the mission, goals, and objectives of the Department of Corrections by overseeing the installation, repair, and upkeep of electronic systems and equipment within a correctional facility. Responsibilities include conducting tests, performing preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure the integrity of existing structures and furnishings, all while adhering to federal, state, and local regulations.

Key Duties Include:

  • Managing inventory through strategic planning and procurement.
  • Responding promptly to maintenance requests via a Total Maintenance System (TMS).
  • Supervising inmate workers in the installation, maintenance, and repair tasks.
  • Being available for emergency service callbacks on a rotating schedule.
  • Assisting in various areas of the Building and Grounds department, which may encompass preventative maintenance, construction projects, equipment repairs, and other maintenance tasks.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent, along with significant experience in electronics and CCTV troubleshooting. A solid understanding of telecommunication equipment and its functionality is essential.

Additional Considerations

Experience within a correctional environment is preferred. Familiarity with perimeter security systems and public address systems is advantageous. Candidates should have a working knowledge of electronics theory, including troubleshooting, calibration, testing procedures, and circuit analysis. Proficiency in handling computers and peripheral devices is required. The ability to fabricate, modify, and perform component-level repairs on various electronic instruments is necessary. Candidates must also be able to interpret schematics, block diagrams, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, flow charts, truth tables, and service manuals. Knowledge of two-way radio systems is beneficial.
