Job Responsibilities

This position plays a crucial role in supporting the mission, goals, and objectives of the Department of Corrections through the installation, repair, and upkeep of electronic systems and equipment within a correctional facility. The technician will conduct testing, preventive maintenance, and corrective actions to ensure the integrity of existing structures and furnishings, adhering to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

Key Duties Include:

  • Managing inventory through effective planning and procurement.
  • Responding promptly to maintenance requests within a Total Maintenance System (TMS).
  • Supervising inmate workers during the installation, maintenance, and repair tasks.
  • Being available for emergency callbacks on a rotating schedule.
  • Assisting in various tasks within the Building and Grounds department, which may include preventative maintenance, construction projects, equipment repairs, and other maintenance activities.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent, along with substantial experience in electronics and CCTV troubleshooting. A solid understanding of telecommunication equipment and its functionality is essential.

Additional Considerations

Experience within a correctional environment is preferred. Familiarity with perimeter security systems and public address systems is advantageous. Candidates should have a working knowledge of electronics theory, including troubleshooting, calibration, testing procedures, and circuit analysis. Proficiency in handling computers and peripheral devices is required. The ability to fabricate, modify, and perform component-level repairs on various electronic instruments is necessary. Candidates must also be able to interpret schematics, block diagrams, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, flow charts, truth tables, and service manuals. Knowledge of two-way radio systems is beneficial.
