What will you be doing?
As a Senior Urban Transportation Planner, you will play a pivotal role in advocating for and advancing active transportation throughout the region. This position involves spearheading the execution and coordination of the Regional Active Transportation Plan, which focuses on identifying and addressing the long-term needs for bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure.

Do you enjoy problem-solving? The Senior Urban Transportation Planner will identify effective solutions for regional active transportation challenges by gathering insights from communities, partners, colleagues, and external organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and direction to active transportation personnel, including managing pedestrian and bicycle counts, conducting planning studies, and enhancing safety measures.
- Drive the implementation of recommendations from planning studies into actionable local, state, and federally funded active transportation projects.
- Assist in maintaining transportation planning project databases, including GIS data management.
- Facilitate regular meetings for the Pedestrian/Bicyclist subcommittee and related workgroups, including agenda setting, background documentation, and presentation development.
Key Qualifications:
- Proven experience in developing and executing transportation plans, policy recommendations, and investment strategies that receive broad stakeholder and public endorsement.
- Expertise in data analysis, public engagement, consultant team management, transportation financing, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Strong collaborative skills and a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for community members.
- Demonstrated project management capabilities and effective communication skills to provide timely and professional feedback to diverse audiences.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in local government, nonprofit initiatives, or related roles.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in transportation planning, policy formulation, or funding strategy development.
- Comprehensive knowledge of transportation policies, best practices, and planning regulations at both federal and state levels.
- Master's degree in Urban Planning or a related discipline.
- At least 8 years of experience in transportation planning and project management.
- Experience working with Metropolitan Planning Organizations.
