THE ROLE

The Position: The primary responsibility of the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Manager is to oversee all aspects of the PLM framework at Great Dane, including data integration with other corporate systems.

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Establish performance standards with accountability for outcomes, requiring minimal administrative oversight, or engage in highly creative independent work involving foundational research in technical fields.
  • Oversee the configuration, deployment, maintenance, and upgrades of CAD/PLM applications and processes.
  • Design and configure application interfaces based on business needs, policies, and procedures.
  • Assess user requirements to determine engineering and product data needs, as well as CAD and PLM functional specifications.
  • Create system queries and tools to assist users in information retrieval.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute PLM tools that fulfill established criteria.
  • Implement changes to CAD/PLM systems.
  • Provide training on new features and updates.
  • Offer specialized technical support on a daily basis.
  • Continuously seek improvements in daily operations.
  • Ensure the integrity of PLM systems and manage all product configuration data throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Maintain the accuracy of product definition data.
  • Guarantee appropriate security and archiving measures.
  • Develop and sustain relationships with business partners.
  • Negotiate terms for support contracts.
  • Collaborate with Engineering for user support and standards development.
  • Work with IT for system support and enhancement initiatives.
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing on data consumption standards and trials.
  • Manage relationships with VARs for external support and licensing.
  • Engage with Purchasing on data consumption standards and trials.
  • Develop and implement systems, methodologies, standards, and processes to effectively manage engineering data.
  • Collaborate across various departments to research, develop, and deploy technological advancements aligned with business processes.
  • Stay informed about developments in PLM technology to recommend innovations that enhance the quality and efficiency of Great Dane products and processes.
  • Identify discrepancies or issues with analysis, process mapping, or system implementation and work towards solutions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

YOUR SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS)

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related IT field.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Skills: Proficient in business process mapping and project management.
  • Ability to apply industry best practices.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-driven and motivated.
  • General understanding of engineering and manufacturing data requirements and design tools.
  • Functional knowledge of design engineering and manufacturing applications.
  • Proficient in SQL and relational databases.
  • Experience with CAD, PDM, and licensing tools.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for onsite support and meetings.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work in both office and plant environments.
  • Involves keyboarding, lifting, standing, bending, and walking.
