As a Senior Systems Engineer at Great Dane, you will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity and efficiency of our Engineering environment. This includes maintaining the PLM environment, ensuring the accuracy of product definition data, and supporting the user community.

Responsibilities:

  • System Configuration and Maintenance: Manage the configuration, deployment, maintenance, and upgrades of CAD/PLM applications and processes.
  • Interface Architecture and Development: Develop interface architecture, design, and configure applications based on business requirements, policies, and procedures.
  • User Needs Analysis: Analyze user needs to determine engineering and product data requirements, CAD and PLM functional requirements, process, and data modeling to meet user needs.
  • System Queries and Utilities: Develop system queries and utilities to support users' information searches.
  • PLM Tool Development: Develop, plan, coordinate, and execute PLM tools that meet established requirements.
  • System Change Test Plans: Develop system change test plans.
  • CAD/PLM System Changes: Coordinate and implement CAD/PLM system changes.
  • Technical Content and Training: Define/Document technical content and guide the development/coordination of training for CAD and PLM Applications, new functionalities, and upgrades.
  • Specialized Technical Assistance: Provide specialized technical assistance on a daily basis.
  • Process Improvement: Actively work to improve daily processes.
  • System Integrity: Ensure systems integrity and manage all product configuration data and information throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Product Definition Data: Responsible for the integrity of product definition data.
  • Application Security: Ensure proper application security policies.
  • System Support and Enhancement: Work with IT to provide system support, and enhancement development.
  • Data Consumption Standards: Work with various business units to support data consumption standards, manufacturing trials.
  • Engineering Data Management: Develop and deploy systems, methodologies, standards, and processes that result in the ability to manage Engineering data for efficient and effective consumption.
  • Technical Advances: Work across multiple functional departments to research, develop, and deploy technical advances in information technology mapped to business processes.
  • PLM Technology Developments: Maintain a current and up-to-date knowledge of PLM technology developments in order to recommend innovations to improve the quality, economy, and effectiveness of Great Dane products and processes.
  • Problem Identification and Resolution: Recognize discrepancies and/or problems with analysis, process mapping, or system implementation results and work toward corrective action.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or IT-related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in the trailer or related industry.
  • Skills: Business process mapping and project management skills.
  • Industry Best Practices: Ability to apply industry best practices.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal, written, and oral skills.
  • Self-Motivation and Analytical Thinking: Self-motivated, independent analytical thinking; executes projects with minimal supervision.
  • Decision-Making and Accountability: Desire to own decisions and take responsibility for outcome.
  • Engineering and Manufacturing Data Requirements: General understanding of engineering/manufacturing data requirements and design tools.
  • Design Engineering and Manufacturing Applications: Functional knowledge of design engineering/manufacturing applications and processes.
  • SQL and Relational Databases: Functional knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
  • CAD, PDM, and Licensing Tools: Experience with CAD, PDM, and licensing tools (CATIA, SmarTeam, SolidWorks, and Aris Innovator).
  • PCs and Windows OS: Working understanding of PCs and Windows OS.
  • Microsoft Excel: Proficient with Microsoft Excel.
  • Visual Basic and Programming: Familiarity with Visual Basic and general programming.
  • Travel: Occasional travel is required to provide onsite support and/or meetings.
