About the Role

The Langham, Boston is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team. As a key member of our kitchen management team, you will be responsible for the daily supervision, management, and direction of our culinary operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the production and execution of food preparation for our hotel restaurants and room service.
  • Manage kitchen operating costs, including food and labor, and maintain high standards of quality and presentation.
  • Organize and participate in the plating of food for service, adhering to established plating and presentation criteria.
  • Manage day-to-day staffing, including coaching, counseling, and disciplinary action, to maintain a positive kitchen morale.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the kitchen and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Hold pre-shift lineups to inform the team of upcoming events and occupancy flow.
Requirements
  • Advanced knowledge of culinary technique and application.
  • Strong knowledge of local health rules, regulations, and food handling.
  • Ability to adapt to changing demands in a food and beverage operation.
  • Personable and able to convey messages clearly and concisely.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in Culinary Arts preferred.
  • 2 to 4 years' experience in a 4 or 5-star hotel or independent restaurant in a kitchen management role.
