Key Responsibilities:

As a Medical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in patient care by performing essential tasks such as taking vital signs, conducting basic assessments, and explaining fundamental medical information to patients under the guidance of healthcare providers. The best candidates will assist with procedures as directed and exhibit self-starter qualities. Proficiency in performing blood draws is required, while IV experience is preferred but not mandatory.

In your capacity as a Medical Registration Specialist, you will ensure a smooth and accurate check-in and check-out process, which involves confirming patient registration and demographics, verifying insurance information, and collecting payments. Additionally, you will handle phone inquiries, assist patients with scheduling, relay messages to relevant providers, and address other non-clinical needs as they arise.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a physician office or clinic setting, with a preference for Internal Medicine or Primary Care.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills, along with excellent communication, customer service, organizational, and telephone skills.
  • Able to manage high call volumes and multitask effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Familiarity with various insurance types, pre-authorizations, and pre-certifications.
  • Capable of obtaining vital signs, patient history, and performing effective telephone triage.
  • Assist with procedures under the guidance of healthcare providers and demonstrate initiative.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, and assist with inventory as needed.
  • Greet patients warmly and professionally.
  • Manage patient check-in and check-out processes.
  • Answer phone calls and assist patients with inquiries.
  • Schedule appointments efficiently.
  • Scan and manage documents within our system.
  • Ensure the office lobby remains tidy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant, CNA, or EMT is mandatory.

Experience Requirements:

  • Preferred 1 year of experience in a medical office setting.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) are essential.
  • Knowledge of health insurance processes is preferred.
  • Prior customer service experience is advantageous.

Skills Required:

  • Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented, particularly regarding patient information and needs.
  • Capability to remain calm and de-escalate situations with upset patients.
