Key Responsibilities

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides exceptional, patient-focused care by performing a range of assigned basic patient care services associated with common nursing tasks and daily living activities.

Under the guidance of a registered nurse (RN), the PCT supports the nursing team in delivering patient care in accordance with their skills and training, while ensuring a clean, organized, and safe patient care environment.

Responsibilities include:

- Participating in the execution of nursing care plans by delivering both direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse.

- Collecting and documenting initial and ongoing patient information throughout the care cycle, including admissions data, vital signs, height and weight, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, intake and output, calorie counts, and other relevant patient information as per policy.

- Assisting with patient mobility through regular repositioning, dangling, and ambulating patients. Aiding in the use of walkers, crutches, canes, and wheelchairs. Facilitating patient transfers to and from various units or departments.

- Supporting discharges.

- Demonstrating proper body mechanics.
- Assisting in the collection of specimens for diagnostic or waived tests, ensuring accurate labeling and timely transfer of specimens.
- Aiding patients with daily living activities such as eating, bathing, grooming, and elimination. Changing bed linens as necessary.
- Serving as Monitor/Telemetry Technician for the unit as required.
- Engaging in evidence-based best practices that enhance the patient experience, including safety rounding, communication fundamentals, and patient education techniques.

Qualifications
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
