Job Title: Assistant General Manager

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Assistant General Manager to join our team at New York Sports Clubs. As a key member of our management team, you will play a crucial role in driving business growth, improving member satisfaction, and ensuring the overall success of our clubs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Performance Management: Hold yourself and your team accountable to high standards of operational excellence, support team development through coaching, and assist in the assessment of employee performance.
  • Sales Analysis and Results: Support the General Manager in achieving club revenue plans, review and analyze club sales, and use data to project sales and determine profitability.
  • Employee Recruitment and Development: Own the recruitment, training, and development of qualified club personnel, onboard new employees, and create an open environment where employees are empowered to ask questions and continue to progress along their Learning Journey.
  • Leadership: Continuously model and promote the NYSC mission and values, promote the creation of a results-driven culture, and lead by example.
  • Club Operations: Confirm that Member Experience Walkthroughs and Figure 8's are completed daily, review and adhere to all NYSC documents, and schedule and direct regular meetings and events.
  • Customer Service: Support the development of a customer service culture and mindset to achieve an exceptional customer experience.
  • Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with employees, supervisors, and peers, and professionally collaborate with club team and corporate personnel.
  • Product Knowledge: Maintain knowledge of market, competition, best practices, and trends in sales techniques and strategies.
  • Problem Solving: Work with the General Manager to resolve issues that affect the service, efficiency, and productivity of the club.
Requirements:
  • 2-3 years of management/supervisory experience in a fitness, hospitality, or retail environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, sales, marketing, finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Comfortable leading outreach and referral activities that will generate leads, contacts, and appointments.
  • Successful track record of working in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to handle challenging member issues with patience, tact, and the utmost professionalism.
  • Child & Adult AED/CPR certified.
  • Prior experience with a CRM, LMS, UKG Ready, and Microsoft Office is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Physical demands include ability to lift up to 20 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations, walk through all areas of the club, climbing stairs (where applicable), and bending and lifting.
Scheduling Requirements:
  • Ability to work days, nights, holidays, and weekends according to the needs of the business.
  • This position has a rotating schedule with opening and closing hours, weekday and weekend shifts and is subject to change based on the needs of the business.
