Veterinary Technician, ER and CCU Specialist

Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency and Critical Care team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in assisting with the care and treatment of critically ill or injured animals.
Key Responsibilities- Triage and admit emergency cases
- Provide nursing care to critically ill or injured patients, ensuring consistent evaluation and monitoring
- Demonstrate proficiency in advanced hospitalization care and continuous rate infusions (CRIs)
- Perform in-house laboratory procedures
- Skillfully place intravenous (IV) catheters
- Conduct accurate and detailed patient rounds
- Safely restrain fractious and frightened patients
- Obtain temperature, pulse, and respiration (TPR) measurements and maintain medical records
- Recognize situations requiring immediate attention from a veterinarian
- Act as an advocate for both the patient and client
- High school diploma
- 2+ years of clinical experience in the veterinary industry as a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), or 3 consecutive years of Veterinary Assistant experience in an Emergency Room/Critical Care Unit (ER/CCU) setting
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with staff and clients, demonstrating tact, patience, and professional courtesy while maintaining confidentiality and discretion
- Proficiency in mathematical calculations for drug doses, CRIs, client invoices, estimates, and other related calculations
- Hold or obtain the California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP) within 60 days of hire or transfer into the role (waived if a valid CA-RVT license is held)
Full-time position
4/10 schedule
Flexibility required, including some holidays
Compensation and Benefits$40.00 hourly plus shift differentials
