Job Summary

The Lead Construction Technician is responsible for the timely and safe completion of projects in strict accordance with plans and specifications. They ensure the final product meets Old Dominion Heat Trace's quality in construction benchmarks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize, manage, and supervise construction teams to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Develop and implement construction plans, schedules, and budgets to achieve project goals.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure effective communication, coordination, and problem-solving.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, regulations, and company policies.
  • Manage and maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to projects.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure project success.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks and opportunities to ensure project success.

Requirements:

  • At least five (5) years of experience in construction with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of construction techniques, practices, procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Ability to lead and manage teams, prioritize tasks, and problem-solve.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to read and understand construction plans and documents.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual (English, Spanish).
  • Commercial insulation, electrical, controls, communication/wires, low voltage/security, and/or heat trace experience.
  • Experience leading/supervising construction crews.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Able to walk, sit, stand, bend, kneel, stretch, squat, and climb.
  • Able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Able to work with specialized construction equipment, tools, and materials.
  • Be physically active for long periods of time.
  • Able to see, talk, and hear in person, via phone, and/or through online/video.
  • Able to use hands and fingers in a manner that allows for use of a keyboard and phone.
  • Able to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires activities involving being around moving mechanical parts and machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, working at various heights, and exposure to dust, fumes, gases, toxic, caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
  • Must be able to travel daily to job sites and meetings.
