Research Associate

The Research Associate will be primarily responsible for conducting Drosophila genetic experiments, including producing balanced fly stocks for long-term storage, developing new genetic strains for experiments, and conducting experiments using a wide variety of strains carrying various genomic modifications.
Responsibilities- Molecular cloning, including PCR, gel electrophoresis, restriction enzyme digests, and DNA isolation.
- Drosophila management, including developing new Drosophila genetic strains, Drosophila husbandry and maintenance, and balancing fly stocks for long-term storage.
- Experimental genomic modifications and phenotype analysis.
- Supervising undergraduate researchers performing UAS/Gal4 experimental fly crosses.
A Master's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or other natural, life, health care, or materials science directly related to the research area, or a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of three years' research and/or clinical experience, and previous supervisory experience.
Must have a basic understanding of laboratory techniques, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a high level of organizational skills.
