Augusta University's School of Computer and Cyber Sciences is seeking a visionary academic leader to serve as the Associate Dean for Research. This position reports directly to the Dean of the School of Computer and Cyber Sciences and is a key member of the academic leadership team.
Responsibilities- Provide strategic leadership in building the School's research momentum and sustaining current graduate programs in alignment with the institution's mission statement and strategic plan.
- Collaborate with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Dean of the Graduate School, and research leadership of other colleges at Augusta University to advance the School's research and graduate education initiatives.
- Develop and implement research relationships with existing partners of the School, including Georgia Cyber Center, Savannah River National Lab, and DOD organizations at Fort Eisenhower.
- Work with the Director of the Cyber Institute to create new applied research initiatives that enhance and grow research expenditures at the School.
- Support existing, new, and emerging graduate programs in the School and interact with the Graduate School.
- Participate in expanding strategically the multi-disciplinary graduate program offerings to other degrees and disciplines.
- Develop graduate research curricula and courses in consultation with the School faculty.
- Support doctoral students in terms of problem resolution and career development.
- Recruit outstanding faculty and provide input to the Appointment, Promotion & Tenure process for Graduate Faculty.
- Mentor junior faculty in moving their research programs forward and obtaining extramural funding.
- An earned doctoral degree in computer science/engineering, information systems, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of seven to ten years full-time experience and a substantial personal record in research and education.
- Professor rank requires a doctoral degree in computer science, information systems, cybersecurity, computer engineering, or related disciplines, with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
- An active externally-funded research program and a strong record of competitive federal or state research funding.
- An outstanding record of publications appearing in high-quality venues, including journals and conference proceedings.
- Highly visible within their research community, with experience chairing technical program committees of established conferences and/or serving on the editorial boards of leading journals.
- A proven record of mentoring doctoral students and successfully leading them to graduation.
This position is fiscal year-based and works year-round. The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time. Professor rank and salary are determined at the time of hire and are based on a variety of factors, including experience, education, credentials, specialty, training, etc., while also considering internal equity and market data.
