Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the technical lead and senior engineers, the Senior Cloud Java Engineer will engage in system architecture design, development, integration testing, and validation, encompassing all phases of the software development life cycle for a Java backend application that involves significant messaging and transaction processing.
  • Hands-on involvement is essential, with the ability to design and develop Java code according to project specifications while also mentoring junior team members.
  • The candidate will be expected to adopt and follow the continuous integration, automated unit testing, and other Agile methodologies established within the team, utilizing the tools currently in use.
  • Diagnosing and resolving issues in existing application components as part of ongoing maintenance will be a key expectation.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Over 7 years of robust experience in Java J2EE/JEE design and software development, including the design, development, and documentation of large-scale enterprise software systems.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working with cloud applications utilizing serverless services such as AWS Lambda.
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases like MongoDB, DocumentDB, and DynamoDB.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Proficiency in Spring Boot and AWS cloud technologies.
  • Knowledge of web and microservices architecture.
  • Experience with SQL databases, preferably Oracle.
  • Understanding of messaging and streaming systems such as SQS, Kinesis, and Kafka.
  • Proficient in XML and JSON.
  • Experience with Unix/Linux environments.
  • Strong skills in JDBC/JPA/Hibernate and SQL are required.
  • Familiarity with standard design patterns.
  • Proven expertise in software engineering practices, including the ability to read and generate software specifications and design patterns.
  • Demonstrated capability to incorporate rigorous unit testing into development activities is crucial.
  • Experience with GitLab, JIRA, and Jenkins for CI/CD processes.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience working with large project teams, particularly in collaboration with governmental entities, is a strong advantage.
  • Ability to think critically and creatively to devise innovative solutions to software challenges.
  • Capacity to develop and maintain components that meet stringent performance standards.
  • Agile development experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with IBM MQ, JMS, EJB, MDB, and other JEE technologies.
  • Experience with JEE servers such as WebLogic, WebSphere, or JBoss.
  • This position is highly technical and requires hands-on involvement.
