Position Overview

Licensed Practical Nurse - Family Medicine

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday

Role Summary:

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will collaborate with physicians to fulfill the operational needs of the practice while functioning within the full extent of your licensure.

Qualifications:

  • Licensure: Must hold a valid LPN license in the state of practice.
  • Experience: A minimum of one year in a healthcare setting is preferred, though not mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guide patients to examination rooms and prepare them for assessments or treatments by documenting vital signs, medical history, and medication lists.
  • Process prescriptions following authorization from the healthcare provider and ensure accurate documentation in patient records.
  • Handle insurance referrals through appropriate channels and follow up as necessary.
  • Support departmental efficiency by assisting colleagues and performing clerical tasks, including call management and training on necessary software.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in examination and procedure rooms, ensuring all necessary supplies are readily available.
  • Administer prescribed medications and injections, documenting all actions in the patient's medical record.
  • Direct patients to appropriate areas for additional testing or follow-up appointments.
  • Possess foundational knowledge of medications, including potential side effects and contraindications.
  • Assist in surgical procedures and maintain sterile environments as required.
  • Implement infection control protocols and ensure the proper sterilization of medical instruments.
  • Monitor and report any signs of infection to the supervising physician.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform other duties as assigned in accordance with LPN licensure.
  • Participate in orientation and mandatory training sessions as required by the organization.
  • Adhere to the established dress code policy.
  • Engage in departmental meetings and contribute to the achievement of office objectives.
