Load Builder Yard Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Load Builder I Yard to join our team at Builders FirstSource. As a key member of our yard operations, you will be responsible for loading and unloading materials, assembling load packages, and ensuring safe and efficient delivery to customer job sites.
Key Responsibilities- Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trucks, or customer vehicles, and secure them with strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
- Perform load-building tasks, determining the appropriate weight, composition, and placement of loads based on customer orders and delivery vehicle capacity to ensure balanced and safe hauling.
- Read work orders or follow oral instructions to determine materials to be moved or loaded, and convey them to designated areas using hand trucks, electric dollies, forklifts, or other devices.
- Open containers, units, slings, and loads using hand tools, and attach identifying tags or labels to materials or mark information on cases, bales, or other containers for correct identification.
- Understand and observe all safety procedures and practices to prevent injury to yourself or coworkers, and attend periodic safety meetings as required.
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and three (3) months of experience performing similar tasks, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Forklift certification required.
- Ability to read and write to handle work orders and labeling tasks.
- Manual dexterity and ability to use simple hand tools.
- Knowledge of safety procedures while performing forklift driving and materials handling tasks.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to count items and verify against prepared lists.
This role is performed within a production or yard environment, subject to temperature variations, hazardous chemicals, mechanical parts, equipment noise, and dust. You must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently and on occasion up to 80 pounds, and may be required to perform specific tasks that involve climbing, lifting, pushing, or kneeling.
