Load Testing Specialist

ASRC Federal is seeking a Performance Testing Engineer to contribute to a significant federal initiative.

The role primarily entails the development, adjustment, and execution of load and performance evaluations for a variety of software applications. Some applications undergo annual updates, while others are modified in response to evolving requirements. The ideal candidate will collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to comprehend the specifications, identify viable solutions, and work with the team to create, troubleshoot, and execute the necessary scripts. Following this, the candidate will analyze the outcomes to pinpoint potential bottlenecks and propose solutions to ensure a successful launch or upgrade.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain custom tools and databases, including gathering requirements and determining appropriate solutions.
  • Create and sustain tools primarily utilized for loading and processing data in support of training initiatives.
  • Plan and execute bi-annual load and performance assessments on critical, high-visibility enterprise applications.
  • Collaborate with the automation team to design, build, and implement automated load and testing scripts.
  • Support the penetration testing team as required.
  • Work alongside various development teams to identify strategies for implementing load and performance testing tools and scenarios.
  • Engage with development, QA, and operations teams to address performance challenges.
  • Design, develop, and execute performance test scripts utilizing JMeter.
  • Generate detailed performance test reports and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders.

Experience and Education:

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in HTTP
  • Knowledge of HTML/CSS
  • Experience with Java/Groovy
  • Familiarity with Powershell/Command Prompt
  • Understanding of Javascript

Familiarity with the following tools is essential:

  • JMeter
  • Grafana
  • InfluxDB
  • Git
  • Visual Studio Code
  • Performance & Load Testing
  • Background in computer science with a focus on web-based applications.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to web-based applications.
  • Knowledge of cloud architecture.
  • Understanding of HTTP response/request and payloads.
  • Ability to set up and manage Grafana and InfluxDB instances for performance monitoring dashboards.
  • Provide insights for performance enhancements based on testing results.
  • Proficient in using Bash, Command Prompt, and PowerShell for command execution.
  • Skilled in scripting and manipulating JMeter test scripts and data using Groovy or other programming languages.

This position necessitates a SECRET security clearance; therefore, the successful candidate must possess this level of clearance or be eligible to obtain it. US Citizenship is mandatory.
