UPMC Life Changing Medicine: Mammographer Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Mammographer to join our team at UPMC Magee Women's Hospital. As a Mammographer, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality breast imaging services to our patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform correlative breast examinations, document scars, moles, and pertinent findings, and provide individualized breast self-examination instruction.
  • Identify patients properly using two patient identifiers and utilize universal protocol when performing procedures.
  • Review patient history, assess physician orders, and apply specific departmental protocols for optimal results.
  • Prepare patients for mammography procedures, ensuring their physical safety and comfort.
  • Communicate instructions to patients in a clear and concise manner, explaining procedures to alleviate fears and solicit cooperation.
  • Ensure all exams are properly coded, tracked, and charged through the RIS system and ISITE for archiving and interpretation.
  • Assist with invasive breast imaging procedures, including ultrasound, stereo tactic guided needle biopsy, clip placement, ductogram, wire localization, radioactive seed localization, and sentinel node injection.
  • Perform equipment quality control procedures, evaluating results to ensure equipment performance meets acceptable standards.
  • Administer PO and IV contrast per physician orders and department policy, assessing patients for potential risk factors prior to administration.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an ARRT-approved school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Completion of an approved Mammography Training Course that fulfills the requirements set forth by the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA).
  • ARRT Certificate.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
  • Act 34 clearance.
