Job Summary

UPMC Life Changing Medicine is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Imaging Specialist to join our team as a full-time flex mammographer. This role will involve performing correlative breast examinations, documenting patient information, and providing individualized breast self-examination instruction.

Responsibilities
  • Imaging Procedures: Perform mammography procedures in a technically proficient manner, including proper application of breast compression, positioning, and special mammography views to maximize diagnostic quality.
  • Patient Care: Prepare patients for mammography procedures, ensuring their physical safety and comfort. Communicate instructions clearly and concisely, explaining procedures to alleviate patient fears and solicit cooperation.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform equipment quality control procedures, utilizing radioactive sources, and evaluate results to ensure equipment performance meets acceptable standards.
  • Administrative Tasks: Ensure all exams are properly coded and tracked through the RIS system, networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and charges are adequately entered for exams performed.
  • Specialized Procedures: Assist with invasive breast imaging procedures, including ultrasound, stereo tactic guided needle biopsy, clip placement, ductogram, wire localization, radioactive seed localization, and sentinel node injection.
Requirements
  • Education: Graduate of an ARRT-approved school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Certifications: American Registry Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification, Mammography registration within 12 months of hire date, and Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
  • Clearances: Act 34 clearance.
