Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Dialysis Patient Care Technician to join our team at Mat-Su Dialysis. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and support to our adult/geriatric ESRD patient population.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Pre-Dialysis Preparation: Prepare dialysis machines and their components for treatment, ensuring all necessary equipment is functioning properly.
  • Patient Monitoring: Care for and monitor patients before, during, and post-dialysis treatment, recording vital signs and reporting any concerns to the healthcare team.
  • Treatment Setup: Transport patients to and from treatment areas, setting up dialysis machines and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment.
  • Patient Education: Explain dialysis procedures and machine operation to patients, addressing any anxieties or concerns they may have.
  • Access Inspection: Inspect and clean areas of access (fistula, graft, or catheter) to prevent infection and ensure patient safety.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Inspect equipment settings, including pressures, conductivity, and temperature, to ensure conformance to safety standards.
  • Treatment Initiation: Start patient treatment according to physician orders, monitoring the machine for any signs of malfunction.
  • Adverse Reaction Monitoring: Monitor patients for adverse reactions to dialysis treatment and report any concerns to the healthcare team.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in inventory and supply stocking in the dialysis clinic, ensuring all necessary materials are available.
Requirements:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent, with evidence of such required pre-employment.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 months of dialysis, phlebotomy, or CNA/PCA experience preferred.
  • Certifications: CPR certification required within 90 days of hire, with ability to distinguish primary colors demonstrated by passing the Ishihara Color Vision Test.
  • Training: Successful completion of our dialysis training program, including demonstrated competency, within 12 weeks of hire.
  • Certification Requirements: Must meet Center for Medicaid/Medicare Services (CMS)-approved national certification requirements within the CMS timeline, with certification maintained as current and in good standing.
  • Communication Skills: Demonstrated working knowledge of the English language and ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Computer Skills: Basic computer skills required, with proficiency in all clinical applications expected within 90 days of hire.
  • Time Management: Ability to organize time and tasks well, with required use of problem-solving, analytical, and effective communication skills.
  • Confidentiality: Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in all patient interactions.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Interpersonal skills necessary to work with patients, staff, and all other individuals as required.
  • Multi-Tasking: Ability to multi-task in an efficient, professional, and calm manner.
