New Americans Initiative Educator

At the YMCA of Greater New York, we are committed to empowering New Yorkers through education and community development. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced New Americans Initiative Instructor to join our team.
Job Summary:The New Americans Initiative Instructor will be responsible for developing and implementing curricula that align with adult learning principles and educational goals. This role will involve teaching ESOL, HSE/ABE, Citizenship, Technology, and Foreign Language classes, as well as evaluating student progress and supporting program services.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and utilize lesson plans that reflect an understanding of adult learning principles and educational goals.
- Teach ESOL, HSE/ABE, Citizenship, Technology, and Foreign Language classes in a manner that builds student skill level and confidence.
- Complete student assessments and maintain accurate and timely student files.
- Support classroom administration, including ordering supplies and managing attendance.
- Ensure timely data entry into databases and participate in training sessions and meetings.
- Minimum of one year of relevant experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL).
- Ability to work as part of a team and establish positive relationships with participants, the community, and collaborators.
- Knowledge of adult literacy principles and practices, as well as Microsoft Office and database management.
- Self-starter with strong organizational and communication skills.
