Position Summary

The Financial Operations Manager is accountable for overseeing and managing accounting activities, including general ledger maintenance, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Facility General Manager and Office Accounting Manager.
  • Approve accounts payable vouchers.
  • Authorize accounts receivable cash applications.
  • Manage the fixed assets program, including additions, changes, transfers, disposals, and reconciliations to the balance sheet.
  • Prepare sales tax returns and fuel excise tax refunds.
  • Compile month-end journal entries and financial statements.
  • Analyze monthly and year-to-date results against budget and prior year, providing explanations for variances.
  • Conduct balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Perform labor-to-revenue analysis by department.
  • Monitor legal expenses.
  • Prepare personal property tax returns.
  • Collaborate with the facility to develop the annual operational budget.
  • Implement CPI increases on leases as necessary.
  • Provide audit and tax information as required.

Supervisory Role

This position includes supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

Office settings that are well-lit, heated, and/or air-conditioned, as well as production environments, outdoor/indoor shop areas, or enclosed vehicles with adequate ventilation and protection from extreme weather.

Physical Requirements

This role involves sedentary physical activity, performing non-strenuous daily administrative tasks. Manual dexterity is required for finger movements.

Position Type and Work Hours

This is a full-time role, with typical hours from Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and the option to work remotely one day a week.

Travel Requirements

Occasional overnight travel (up to 20%) may be required by land and/or air.

Education and Experience Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Accounting or Finance and a minimum of four years of progressive finance business experience are required. Experience with the month-end closing process and oversight of team members is essential.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with NetSuite and advanced Excel skills are preferred.

Computer Skills

Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including proficiency in electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheets, and graphics. Comfort with PowerPoint and presenting to executive leadership is necessary.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

Must be able to obtain TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and eRail certification.
